The Heriot-Watt Space Academy brings together frontier research, education and student-led initiatives related to space technologies and systems. Benefitting from scarcely available facilities that include on-campus optical and radio frequency ground stations, our work bridges theory with experiments across the entire technology readiness level scale – including mission analysis and design, development of tools, testbeds and engineering models as well as active role in national and international space missions. The Space Academy brings together research and academic staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students from different disciplines across the entire University community with a shared passion in space technologies. We work closely with the industry, national and international space agencies as well as academic and research institutions to deliver innovative research, new technologies and skills for space.
